UV/UV LED coating is used for aesthetic purposes and also functional purposes. It gives gloss and shine to printed paper. It also protects the paper against scratches, fingerprints, and basically denting while handling. It is a very glossy, shiny liquid coating applied to a printed paper surface and cured on a printing press or special machine using ultraviolet light/ UV LED lamps. The coating hardens, or cures when it is exposed to the ultra violet radiation.
UV LED curing is a relatively new technology that changes a liquid into a solid using ultraviolet (UV) energy. When the energy is absorbed, a polymerization reaction occurs that changes the UV material into a solid. This process happens instantaneously, making it an appealing alternative to traditional drying methods.
